‘Glee’ Cast Racy ‘GQ’ Magazine Photos Spark Controversy
A television watchdog issued remarks against racy magazine photos of the stars of one of the most popular shows on air. They called them “near-pornographic” and “borders on pedophilia”.
Glee lead cast members Cory Monteith, 28, Lea Michele, 24 and Dianna Agron, 24 will be featured in a photo spread in the upcoming November issue of GQ magazine.
The cover shows the actresses wearing skimpy outfits and in a provocative pose while Monteith’s hands are placed in the girls’ bottoms.
The pictures in the spread inside the magazine feature the girls wearing practically only their underwear showing skins that you would only normally see when one wears a swimsuit.
The Parents Television Council (PTV) gave comments regarding the pictures. “It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on Glee in this way. It borders on pedophilia.” They also said, “Sadly, this is just the latest example of the overt sexualization of young girls in entertainment.”
Fox has not issued any statements regarding the PTV comments.
