Graceland Marks Elvis’ 33rd Death Anniversary

Marking the 33rd death anniversary of Elvis Presley, thousands of his fans flock to his grave in Graceland, Memphis, Tennessee to offer candles and prayers.

Countless of fans, including those coming from different parts of the world, troop to the King of Rock’s former home on Sunday Night to attend an annual candlelight vigil and procession. It can be recalled that Presley died at the age of 42 at his Graceland mansion on August 16, 1977.

Flowers and photos surround the entrance to the grave site, Elvis ballads play on a loop, as Elvis supporters honor his death anniversary in utmost solemnity.

Presley’s resting place is also where his father Vernon, mother Gladys, and grandmother Minnie Mae were buried.

According to reports by the Associated Press, the nighttime procession is the highlight of a weeklong series of fan-club meetings, film showings and Elvis tribute artist contests. Elvis purchased the 13-acre Graceland property in 1957 for a song — just a bit more than $100,000.
