International Friendly: Spain vs. South Korea [UPDATED]
Spain vs. South Korea Live Stream: South Korea will be looking to repeat their spectacular shootout win over Spain in the 2002 World Cup quarter-final when the two sides collide in a friendly encounter in Austria.
Park Chu-Young of AS Monaco, Ki Sung-Ueng of Celtic FC, Lee Chung-Yong of Bolton Wanderers and Manchester United’s Park Ji-Sung are expected to spearhead the squad’s challenge.
Spain, on the other hand, will be aiming for an improved performance from their recent mediocre 3-2 victory over a Saudi Arabian side that has failed to qualify for South Africa. La Furia Roja remain one of the heavy favorites to claim the World Cup, having won the Euro 2008.
Meanwhile, Fernando Torres will not be risked by coach Vicente del Bosque into tonight’s game as the 26-year-old Liverpool striker continues to battle back to full fitness after a knee injury. But Cesc Fabregas is to be given some playing time after resuming full training following a broken fibula. The Arsenal captain has not played in two months but he is now completely recovered and ready to play.
“He [Torres] is very well,” Del Bosque told reporters. “Although he missed a session on Tuesday it wasn’t because he had a problem but as a precaution. We need to be careful with him.”
The match kicks-off at 18:00 CET (12:00 p.m. ET) at Tivoli Neu in Innsbruck.
UPDATE: Sevilla winger Jesus Navas scored his first goal for Spain as the European champions defeated South Korea 1-0.
