Jack Sparrow Lends a Helping Hand in a London School Mutiny
A nine-year-old schoolgirl wrote a letter to a character portrayed by actor Johnny Depp asking for help on leading a mutiny against her teachers. To her surprise, Depp didn’t reply in letter but went in person, in Jack Sparrow costume, to her school.
Beatrice Delap of Meridian Primary School in Greenwich, England said in her letter to Sparrow that, “Normally we’re a right handful, but we’re having trouble mutinying against our teachers. We’d love it if you could come and help.”
Depp was in Greenwich filming scenes for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides thought it good to pay the children a visit. He went to the school dressed as his character. He addressed the children for 15 minutes, sometimes singing pirate songs and dancing dead man jigs.
After that he gave counsel to Delap that leading a mutiny will bring her to trouble and would not be a good idea.
“Maybe we shouldn’t mutiny today, ‘cos there are police outside monitoring me,” he said to Delap while giving her a hug.
