Jessica Simpson is angry about the recent Star magazine story that linked her to Tiger Woods, and now the 29-year-old singer has taken legal action against the tabloid.

The latest issue of Star devotes its cover to a “shocking story” about an encounter between Jessica and Tiger during a July 2009 golf tournament. It claims that the pair flirted and exchanged e-mail addresses and phone numbers.

On the cover, Woods was photographed with his arm around the pop star’s waist. However, a close friend of Jess denied that she had a relationship with the embattled golfer.
