John and Elizabeth Edwards Split
The announcement came from Nancy Anania, Elizabeth’s sister. She quoted her sister in the February 8 issue of People Magazine: “I’ve had it. I can’t do this. I want my life back.”
She will be focusing on her cancer illness and taking care of their three living children. Eldest child Wade died in 1996.
Random House, publisher of the cancer-stricken Edwards book Resilience said that Elizabeth, 60, “is moving on with her life and wants to put this difficult chapter behind her.”
The couple lived in North Carolina, where John became senator from 1999-2005. They’ve been married for 32 years.
The split came after John admitted to being the father of France Quinn Hunter, daughter of former mistress Rielle Hunter during the campaign period for John’s 2008 Presidential bid.
John, 56, also made a run for the Vice Presidency in 2004 with Senator John Kerry as his running mate.
