Kate Gosselin Reality Show Gets Canceled

TLC is ending its long-running reality show featuring Kate Gosselin and her brood of eight.

In a statement, TLC network said it was cancelling “Kate Plus 8” after the reality show’s current season ends in September. The show’s final episode will be on September 12. “TLC has decided not to renew another season of Kate Plus 8,” the Discovery-owned network said. “By the end of this season, Kate + 8 will have hit the 150 episode mark.”

“Kate Plus 8” started out as “Jon and Kate Plus 8” when its main stars Jon and Kate Gosselin were still together. After their divorce, the show was renamed to its current name. The show has suffered a significant drop in audience share following its renaming. It attracted the most audience two years ago, the same period when Jon and Kate’s marital trouble was tabloid headlines. “While it is very sad for me and the kids (there were many tears at the breakfast table this morning!)…we are looking forward with great anticipation to our bright future!” Kate said in a tweet on Monday.
