“It’s always fun,” Bryant said. “It’s always a tremendous honor.”

Bryant reached the milestone by sinking a free throw with 5:13 remaining in the second quarter, reaching the mark five days sooner than the old record set by Wilt Chamberlain.

He led the Lakers to their seventh straight win with 34 points. Pau Gasol added 22 points and 14 rebounds, and Lamar Odom had 12 points and a season-high 18 boards.

Kevin Durant scored 31 points to lead the Thunder, who fell to 13-39, one of the worst records in the league.
