An 18-year-old girl in India is traumatized after neighbors in her village had to rescue her because her father gambled her away in a game of cards.

Ismail Sheikh, from a small town in West Bengal, used his daughter as collateral after he lost all his money, the Times of India reported.

According to villagers, Sheikh, who is in his late 30s, is addicted to gambling. He has taken loans from many in the village as he was often on the losing side of the game.

Neighbors report that the girl has isolated herself at home. Police are investigating the incident.
