Manny Pacquiao is $11 million richer
After beating Oscar De La Hoya in the Dream Match (nightmare for the Golden Boy), Manny Pacquiao can sit back, relax and start counting his earnings from that lopsided fight in Las Vegas.
Pay-per-view (PPV) figures indicate that Pacman is now richer by $11.2 million.
That amount, which exceeds his guaranteed prize, is the minimum that Pacquiao will get. He stands to earn more from his share of live gate receipts and merchandise sales from the Dec. 6 match at the MGM Grand.
According to the numbers released by HBO, Pacquiao’s fight with De La Hoya on Saturday generated 1.25 million PPV buys, which, at $54.95 per buy, translates to nearly $70 million in revenue.
Half of that amount ($35 million) will be divided between De La Hoya, who’ll get the bigger share of 68 percent, and Pacquiao, who’ll get 32 percent, or $11.2 million.
In that match, Oscar looked like the fallen hero; busted up and humiliated– but in the end, he got the lion’s share. Wow 68-32! It’s all about the Benjamins baby!
