Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton on May 2

Filipino boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao is headed for a face-off against British brawler Ricky Hatton in a duel that will most likely happen on May 2 at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas’ Thomas and Mack Center.

Pacquiao, the current WBC lightweight champion, will be aiming for a fifth weight crown against Hatton, who holds the IBO junior welterweight belt.

Both boxers and their managements will finalize the details of the fight before Christmas and Hatton will enter training camp on February 1 after his traditional family cruise.

“Manny has been at the top of my radar since he beat Oscar De La Hoya,” Hatton told Britain’s Sunday Mirror.

“I went in with the best fighter in the world in 2007 when I lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and I will do the same when I get in the ring with Manny. Every boxer wants to prove himself against the very best and that is what I have done again and again.”

    This could be fight of the year for 2009. Both boxers are known for their non-stop offense. Manny Pacquiao will climb the ring as favorite though I've read it will be a 50/50 split on the prize money. I hope Manny take this fight not a walk in the park but train hard for he just don't need speed but also stamina for an opponent who clinch a lot.

    wont even be close. I love Ricky but he's lost what he had when he was lighter/younger. Maznny will destroy. I hope not but come on . Ricky can barely beat bums let alone Manny.

    i will put my $500 on Pacman in 8-11 rounds via KO. pacman and roach will come up with a better tactics to counter the clinching style of hatton
