Miami Debuts “Big 3”; Wade Injured
The Miami Heat gave their home fans a first look of the team that would try to win the NBA title when the season kicks off later this month by thrashing the Detroit Pistons, 105-89, in the first preseason game this year at the American Airlines Arena.
However, the so-called Big 3 of LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh spent only a few minutes together on the floor as one of them had to leave due to an injury. Wade had to leave the game with only a little over three minutes into the first quarter after he suffered a strained right hamstring.
James took over the rest of the first quarter, scoring 12 of his 18 points in the first 12 minutes of play while also assisting in almost all of the field goals scored by his teammates in the opening salvo. Bosh led the Heat in scoring with 20 points while Udonis Haslem added 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Miami officials said Wade could miss around two weeks, but would be ready when the Heat open the season against the Boston Celtics on October 26.
