Miguel Cabrera Arrested for DUI
Booze has gotten the better of Major League Baseball all-star Miguel Cabrera yet again.
The Detroit Tigers first baseman, whose talent is sometimes overshadowed by his alcohol problem, was reportedly arrested on Thursday in Florida on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. According to reports, the 27-year-old slugger was arrested in St. Lucie County, Florida, and was later booked at the county jail, where he was released early Thursday morning after posting a $1,350 bail.
Official police reports show that authorities found Cabrera’s car parked on the side of the road with smoke coming out of the vehicle’s engine compartment. When police officers checked on the vehicle, they found the baseball star inside. Cabrera was reportedly reeking of alcohol, had bloodshot and watery eyes, and his speech was slurred. The 2008 AL home run king also refused to submit to a breathalyzer, cursed at officers, and even took a swig from a bottle of scotch in front of the arresting officers, the incident report said.
In 2009, Cabrera, who had just come from a night of drinking, was also arrested after he got into an argument with his wife. Early last year, it was reported that Cabrera spent several months in rehab to treat his alcohol addiction.
