Despite the imminent recession, there’s still plenty of demand for these supercars. Here’s the Telegraph’s list of the most expensive production cars in the world.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe: Beneath the long bonnet, power is supplied by the same 6.75-litre BMW V12 found in the Phantom, producing 453bhp. This model retails for £313,000.

Scheduled to be discontinued in 2009, the Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR, retails for c. £300,000. It is the fastest automatic transmission car in the world.

The £840,000 Bugatti Veyron has been displaced as the most expensive production car in the world.

The aluminium-bodied Koenigsegg CCXR would set you back a cool £1 million. Although each car comes with a five-year warranty and a free service every year for five years.

An American supercar, the Saleen S7 Twin Turbo is capable of over 200 miles per hour. Retails in the US for $550,000 (£367,000). Its 0-60mph time is under three seconds.
