NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor Charged with Rape
Former New York Giants star Lawrence Taylor is facing rape charges for allegedly paying a 16-year-old girl for sex. Taylor was arrested on Thursday in a hotel where he reportedly had sex with the girl before paying her $300. Police said the girl was brought to Taylor’s hotel by a man who had beaten and forced her into prostitution.
Taylor, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999, did not resist when police picked him up early Thursday morning. He was charged with third-degree rape and patronizing a prostitute. He was later released after posting a $75,000 bail. Despite cooperating with the police, Taylor did not admit to the charges. Taylor’s lawyer, Arthur Aidala, said his client “did not have sex with anybody.”
The man who beat the girl was also arrested and was charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The suspect, Rasheed Davis, is a parolee who was jailed for 14 years for first-degree manslaughter. He was released on parole in 2008.
