Obama Administration : Global warming effects are everywhere

In a 196-page report filed by the Obama Administration on Tuesday, it was detailed that global warming is bigger and badder than ever before.

The report says that global warming effects are literally everywhere, with symptoms in every aspect of the environment and social space, and a solid, steady degree of worsening to boot. Heavier downpours, more intense heat waves, altered river flows and extended growing seasons were all given as examples.

Jane Lubchengco, Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, also noted that most people think they know what’s up with global warming, but they really don’t. “Much of the foot-dragging in addressing climate change is in the perception that climate change is a ways down the road and only occurring in remote parts of the planet,” Lubchengco states.

The report, Global Climate Change Impacts in the United States, is annually published and distributed by the governments Climate Change Science Program. It seeks to monitor and inform the public of climate reform and impact in a manner that is easy to understand.

This year’s report is intended to be more of a call to action not only for the people of the United States, but of the world. “It’s a document for every individual citizen who wants to know why they should care about climate change,” Katharine Hayhoe, one of the report’s co-authors and a geosciences professor at Texas Tech University, adds.
