Padraig Harrington voted PGA Tour player of 2008
Padraig Harrington emerged as the PGA Tour player of the year, becoming the first European golfer to win the award since it began in 1990.
In an award selected by fellow competitors on the PGA Tour, Harrington was chosen ahead of Kenny Perry, Vijay Singh, Camilo Villegas and Tiger Woods.
Unlike other sports organizations, the PGA Tour does not reveal the vote totals.
The 37-year-old Irishman only won twice this year, but they were majors. He captured the British Open for the second year in a row and his third major crown at the PGA Championship.
Harrington earned over $4.3 million this season, which was the most he’s made in one season on the PGA TOUR. His previous best was $2.6 million in 2007.
