Pastor urges his flock to bring guns to church
A Kentucky pastor has invited his congregation to bring handguns to church in what he says is an effort to promote safe gun ownership.
Pastor Ken Pagano of the New Bethel Church in Louisville told his flock to bring their unloaded guns for a service celebrating the right to bear arms.
Pagano said he got the idea after some members of the church expressed concern over the Obama administration’s views on gun control.
When the service began, some 200 people were present, local reports said.
The bring-your-gun-to-church day, has been planned for several months, but drew little attention until the Louisville Courier-Journal ran a story in early June.
The event included a handgun raffle, patriotic music and screening of videos on gun safety.
