Peru bans gay cops

In Peru, Interior Minister Mercedes Cabanillas has banned homosexuals from the police force.

The new law states that officers will be indefinitely suspended for having sexual relations with someone of the same gender.

But it doesn’t stop there.

The same applies to adulterers—their actions are also deemed to cause scandal and denigrate the institution’s image.

Critics have attacked the new regulation for being unconstitutional. And the Peruvian media have dubbed Cabanillas as ‘Thatcher’ after the former Conservative British prime minister.

It’s simple. In Peru, heterosexuality isn’t scandalous but homosexuality is.
