Premier League: Arsenal vs. Wigan Athletic

Wigan Athletic, who won their second game of the season against West Ham last Saturday, will face Arsenal this afternoon with nothing to lose and they will be hoping to coil a massive shock.

Meanwhile the Gunners return to Emirates Stadium after consecutive away Premier League games. Dutch striker Robin van Persie is expected to return following a knee injury, and Russian playmaker Andrey Arshavin may be sufficiently recovered from a groin problem to play some part.

However, Manuel Almunia is still suffering from a chest infection so the squad will likely continue with Vito Mannone in goal.

Denilson, Theo Walcott, Samir Nasri, Lukasz Fabianski, Johan Djourou and Carlos Vela remain out because of injuries.

The Latics on the other hand have no injury concerns and no suspensions.

Game time is 3:00 p.m. BST (10:00 a.m. ET).

UPDATE: Thomas Vermaelen scored twice for Arsenal to lead them to a comfortable 4-0 win against Wigan at the Emirates.
