Premier League: Liverpool vs. Stoke City

Liverpool will meet Stoke City tonight after a distressing 2-1 opening day defeat against the Spurs. And following that loss at White Hart Lane, some pundits are already writing off the Reds’ title chances.

However, Stoke manager Tony Pulis believes it is far too early for Liverpool to be disregarded, especially when they could have drawn with Tottenham if a late penalty decision had gone their way.

Meanwhile Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has ruled out the possibility of further player sales at the club. In a recent interview he said: “Nobody will be sold because we need all our players. We can’t afford to lose anyone else.”

Xabi Alonso, Sami Hyypia and Alvaro Arbeloa have all left the Reds this summer, despite the team finishing second in the Premier League last season.

Game time is 8:00 p.m. (3:00 p.m. ET) at Anfield.

UPDATE: The Reds were given no problems by visiting Stoke City. Fernando Torres stole the show as Liverpool got their season up and running with a 4-0 win against the Potters. Other goals came from Glen Johnson, Dirk Kuyt and David Ngog.
