Premier League: Manchester City vs. Blackburn Rovers
Manchester City hosts Blackburn Rovers tonight looking to climb back into the top four of the Premier League.
City currently trail Tottenham by two points but can move above the Spurs in the EPL standings if they can obtain maximum points from tonight’s fixture.
The Citizens have won three straight games without conceding a goal since the exit of Mark Hughes and will be confident of making that four against Sam Allardyce’s side who have not won in their last eight Premier League outings.
The match kicks-off at 20:00 GMT.
Roberto Mancini, meanwhile, won’t have the services of several of his important players. Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure are not available as they are away on international duties, although the former could return sooner than expected as a result of Togo’s withdrawal from the African Nations Cup.
Mancini has now also got Patrick Vieira to shore up the line in front of the defense, although the 33-year-old midfielder will miss out tonight with a calf injury.
So far, the Italian has administered EPL victories against Stoke City and Wolverhampton and an FA Cup win at Middleborough with clean sheets kept in each.
UPDATE: The Citizens climbed into the EPL top four after cruising to a 4-1 victory over Blackburn. Argentine striker Carlos Tevez smashed an amazing hat-trick and Micah Richards also got onto the score sheet to extend Mancini’s perfect record as City boss.
