Premier League: Manchester City vs. Chelsea
The Citizens will try to improve their record in the Premier League when they host the hottest club in England, Chelsea.
Mark Hughes’ side is six places and 14 points behind the Blues and has won just one of its past 22 meetings with the West Londoners.
Chelsea, on the other hand, has won its last five league games, scoring 17 goals and conceding none. With Didier Drogba’s scintillating form, Carlo Ancelotti side looks to further showcase their recent dominance in the EPL.
While winning the title itself appears unlikely at the moment, a victory this evening could see the Citizens return to the top four should other results go in their favor.
Hughes will most likely keep the same lineup that defeated Arsenal in midweek, meaning Emmanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez should start, although Robinho could come in for Craig Bellamy.
Chelsea defender Ashley Cole will return tonight after missing Wednesday’s Carling Cup loss at Blackburn. Salomon Kalou, Daniel Sturridge Alex and Jose Bosingwa are all unavailable because of injuries.
UPDATE: Argentine striker Carlos Tevez curled in a free kick to give the Citizens a 2-1 victory over Premier League leaders Chelsea and end their run of seven league draws.
