Premier League: Manchester City vs. Hull City
Relegation candidates Hull City take on Manchester City this afternoon (15:00 GMT) at KC Stadium with the East Yorkshire club full of confidence after a 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Tuesday.
However, the Tigers have not won a Premier League match since late November when they beat Everton at home.
The Citizens, on the other hand, kept their bid for a top-four finish on track last Sunday as they defeated bottom club Portsmouth 2-0. This is another game that must reverse the trend and bring three points if City are to have a chance of reaching their purpose.
Meanwhile former Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira is expected to make his long-awaited debut for the Citizens today following a ringing endorsement from City boss Roberto Mancini.
“He is a big player, both on the pitch and in the mind,” the Italian said. “We lost two games recently, but maybe we would not have if he had been in the team.”
UPDATE: The Tigers followed up Tuesday’s draw with Chelsea by defeating Manchester City 2-1 to climb out of the relegation zone. Goals from Jozy Altidore and George Boateng secured the much-needed victory, and despite an Emmanuel Adebayor goal, the Citizens hardly threatened to equalize.
