Red Wings vs. Penguins Game 7 Stanley Cup Finals

The 2009 Stanley Cup champions will be crowned tonight as the Detroit Red Wings host the Pittsburgh Penguins in a decisive Game 7 at Joe Louis Arena.

These two teams have combined to play more than 200 games this season, but this evening, not one of those games will matter, as everything they have achieved this year will come down to 60 minutes. Possibly the most important 60 minutes any of these guys will ever play in their careers.

This game will be monumental. Detroit can further their dynasty tonight by winning a fifth NHL championship in 13 years. But the Pens also want to solidify itself as a crème of the crop team in the league.

While the Red Wings have the home court advantage, the Penguins are 4-0 in Game 7’s in franchise history, including a win against the Capitals in Washington during this season’s Eastern Conference semifinals.

Who do you think will win?

Puck drops at 8:00 p.m. ET.

UPDATE: Pittsburgh forward Maxime Talbot scored two second-period goals Friday night and the Penguins won Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Detroit Red Wings, 2-1. This is their first Stanley Cup since 1992.
