Sela Ward Replaces Melina Kanakaredes in ‘CSI:NY’
A day after announcing that a regular cast for CSI: New York will no longer be renewing her contract, network CBS already announced her replcaement.
Sela Ward, who turned 54 last Sunday, July 11, will be joining the cast this coming fall. She will be playing a new character that will become the new partner of Gary Sinise‘s character, Detective Mac Taylor. Her role will be “an experienced investigator from Washington, D.C., whose work is driven by her empathy for the victim.”
“I am thrilled to be working with Gary and this terrific group of people,” the actress said. “I’m a huge fan.”
Ward is a double Primetime Emmy Award winner for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series. The first one she got in 1994 for Sisters and the second one in 2000 for Once and Again.
Melina Kanakaredes, the one Ward will be replacing, did not sign for a renewal of her contract. She has been with the show for the entire six seasons it has currently been on the air. She became a part of actors who left the CSI “franchise”. Eddie Cibrian will not be returning to CSI: Miami and Liz Vassey will not go back to the original CSI.
