Soulja Boy Arrested on Drugs and Weapons Charges
Soulja Boy was arrested on Tuesday after police found marijuana and weapons inside the 21-year-old rapper’s rented Cadillac Escalade, Reuters said in a report.
According to reports, Soulja Boy’s vehicle was stopped on Interstate 20 in Temple, Georgia, after officers noticed that the Escalade had a broken tail light. It was during the routine check that officers smelled marijuana wafting from the vehicle. CBS Atlanta said more than five ounces of marijuana was found in the vehicle as well as pistols and cash worth $46,000. The rapper, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, was brought to the Carroll County jail, along with four companions. Soulja Boy was later released after posting a $10,000 bail.
The rapper has denied the charges against him. “I’m innocent, man. I love you all. I just want you’ll to know I’m innocent,” Soulja boy said as he made his way to a car after posting his bail at Free At Last Bail Bonds.
The rapper’s arrest came on the same day that his film, “Soulja Boy: The Movie,” was released.
