Sun Bowl 2009: Oklahoma Sooners vs. Stanford Cardinal
The Oklahoma Sooners take on the Stanford Cardinal in today’s Sun Bowl, which will take place in El Paso, Texas at around 2:00 p.m. ET.
Both teams may be without their starting quarterbacks, but one of the biggest questions heading into this year’s event is how effective the Cardinals running game can be without Andrew Luck, who has a broken finger.
Tavita Pritchard isn’t new to being a starter but he’s below average. We all know that Oklahoma is much better than their record indicates and the Sooners’ defensive line is utterly vicious.
Stanford, which started the season ranked third, has won four of its last five games, but has failed to cover in its last two matches. Oklahoma, on the other hand, has won and covered in two of its last three games.
The Sun Bowl is a yearly college football match that is the second oldest college bowl game (after the Rose Bowl). The match kicks-off at 2:00 p.m. ET.
UPDATE: WR Ryan Broyles set a Sun Bowl record with three touchdown receptions and the Sooners slowed running back Toby Gerhart to beat Stanford 31-27.
