‘True Blood’ goes for a third bite

There was once a time where vampire stories were stereotyped as horrific monster tales about pasty-faced villains who roam the darkness and have their fill of human blood. Although the stories have evolved and tortured ‘good’ vampires became commonplace, a single TV series has managed to make itself stand-out in the most dirty and freakish manner.

The HBO-original TV series ‘True Blood’ will once again charm and horrify its fans as it airs its third season this Sunday, with a promise of more interesting twists as werewolves will now be involved.

Season two of True Blood ended with a tragic moment when lead character Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) became hesitant to her lover Vampire Bill’s (Stephen Moyer) marriage proposal. After being given a gorgeous engagement ring, Sookie excuses herself to ponder more inside the ladies room. When she finally decides to give him an answer, she goes out only to discover an empty room, with clear signs of struggle.

The third season will go into the dangerous world of Sookie’s boss Sam Merlotte, who also happens to be a shape-shifter. There will also be a good back story about the Bill’s fledgling Jessica, played by Deborah Ann Woll, as she deals with the problems of growing up as a vampire.

The TV series is based on a book by Charlaine Harris. If the first two seasons became faithful to the book, creator Alan Ball promises that the third season will be more expanded when it comes to developing the characters.
