US star Landon Donovan signs for Premier League club Everton

Everton manager David Moyes has confirmed that Landon Donovan will be joining the Toffees on a short-term loan deal when the January transfer window opens.

“It’s all done now,” said Moyes. “Landon will come in and add pace, he’s a good finisher and is captain of the USA national team so he has that experience. He is the first of two or three players I want to bring in January.”

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder will stay with the Merseyside club club until mid-March, when he’ll return to the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer.

Donovan, who holds 42 USA team goals, is his country’s leading international scorer and their most capped player with 120 appearances. He was also named MLS’s most valuable player for 2009.

His Galaxy teammate, David Beckham, has already arranged a loan move to AC Milan as both players look to secure regular football ahead of next year’s World Cup finals in South Africa.
