Vancouver Olympics: USA vs. Finland Hockey Semifinals (UPDATED)

Vancouver Olympics: USA vs Finland Hockey Live StreamUSA vs. Finland Hockey Live Stream: Part of the two game feat in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics men’s ice hockey semifinals is the battle between the United States and Finland at Canada Hockey Place Friday, February 26.

The United States is looking for another shot for the gold medal. USA and Finland had past meetings before coming in this game. Against Finland, Team USA has six victories with two ties in their 11 Olympics games.

The Americans are unbeaten coming into this match. Their preliminary round wins against Switzerland (3-1) and Norway (6-1) were overall good but the huge win over Olympic host Canada (5-3) caught everyone’s attention. They advanced to the medal match by beating Switzerland (2-0) the second time.

Finland, on the other hand, beat Belarus (5-1) and Germany (5-0) but were defeated by the 2006 Winter Olympic gold medal team of Sweden (3-0). Despite losing to the Swedes, Finland still continued their quest and defeated Czech Republic in the quarterfinals (2-0). Finland definitely knows this hurdle won’t be easy for them but they are also aware that they can beat USA. In the 2006 Turin Olympics, Finland knocked the Americans out  in the quarterfinals and then ended up winning the silver medal.

“It’s not going to be easy,” said Finnish hockey icon and Anaheim Ducks star Teemu Selanne. “We want to play our best game that night, and whatever happens, we can live with that.”

UPDATE: Team USA scored six first-period goals to defeat Finland 6-1 and advance to the gold-medal match of the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver. It is the second time in three Olympics the American men will play for gold.
