USA vs. Canada Hockey Live: It’s just minutes until the eagerly anticipated hockey match between USA and Canada kicks off with the exciting prospect of NHL’s best players battling it out.

These are two ice hockey nations that know each other very well. They have played two games in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, and both are currently undefeated.

Canada probably wants this victory more because they are hosting this multi-sport event, and for them hockey is more than just a sport—it’s a symbol of national pride. However, that doesn’t mean fans should expect anything less than the best effort that Team USA has to offer.

If the Americans win, they would clinch first place in Group A and earn a quarterfinal berth. If the Canadians emerge triumphant, they will leap ahead of the United States into first place, which could force the Americans to fight with the eight remaining squads for a spot in the quarterfinals.

UPDATE: The United States pulled off a big upset on Sunday’s preliminary round game in the men’s hockey competition as they defeated Canada 5-3. The previous Olympic win for Team USA over Canada came in 1960, 38 years before the NHL allowed its players to compete in the Winter Games.
