Vanessa Williams Moves to Desperate Housewives
Actress, singer and former beauty title holder Vanessa Williams will be the newest housewife to move in at Wisteria Lane.
Williams, 47, will be joining the cast of Desperate Housewives next season after her current show Ugly Betty was cancelled this term.
Show creator Marc Cherry made the announcement that he has already signed Williams morning of Tuesday, May 18. She will be playing a role that will cause troubles to the ladies of the popular neighborhood. It will be a regular role that will include the former beauty title holder in every episode.
Ugly Betty was cancelled after four seasons. Williams’ character of Wilhelmina Slater earned the actress three Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
In 1984, Williams became the first black winner of the Miss America pageant. She resigned after it was discovered that she previously posed nude for Penthouse magazine.
In 1988, she made a comeback as a singer. The song Colors of the Wind from the 1995 film Pocahontas earned her a Grammy Award, a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
