Video: This robot will guide you through to your death

End of Life Care Machine

“How would you like to die?” Shagga, leader of the Stone Crows asks Tyrion Lannister.

“In my own bed, at the age of 80 with a belly full of wine and a girl’s mouth around my cock.”

Most of us (perverts) would say the same thing. But we’re not Tyrion, and in reality some people die alone: no family or friends at their bedside.

It’s a sad but familiar scene at hospitals, so artist Dan Chen has created a robot that guides a person through the last hours of his or her life in the absence of companions or relatives.

Once the patient lies down and the End of Life Care Machine is activated, LEDs display the words “Detecting end of life.” As the robot gently caresses the patient’s arm, it displays “End of life Detected,” and begins to read from an automated script.

Hello [Your Name], I am the last moment robot.
I am here to help you and guide you through your last moment on earth.
I am sorry that your family and friends can’t be with you right now, but don’t be afraid. I am here to comfort you.
You are not alone, you are with me.
Your family and friends love you very much, they will remember you after you are gone.
Time of death: 11:56

The End of Life Care Machine is just an art project for the moment, but it has an extremely high chance of getting into production in the future — because no one wants to die alone.
