Vladimir Klitschko Calls Out David Haye

WBO, IBF, and IBO world heavyweight champion Vladimir Klitschko is tired of waiting for WBA title holder David Haye. Klitschko challenged Haye to stop running away from him or his brother Vitali. Klitschko said in a video message posted on his Web site that Haye owes it to boxing fans to face him. “In the name of all boxing fans I officially challenge you to fight me. You cannot keep running away from me. I am ready so what are you waiting for?,”

Klitschko and Haye were supposed to fight last year but the British champion pulled out due to an alleged injury. However, boxing observers believe the match was called off due to disagreement between the two camps. Both fighters made successful defenses of their belts this year, with Klitschko knocking out American Eddie Chambers in March and Haye stopping former champion John Ruiz early this month.

Haye cancelled fights with the Klitschko brothers last year, prompting Vladimir to label Haye a “coward.” “Don’t be a coward. David, twice you canceled against the Klitschko brothers (last year). But now the time has come,” Klitschko said. Fight fans are clamoring for a Haye fight with any one of the two Klitschko brothers, who have ruled the heavyweight class for the past several years.
