Tiger Woods Press Conference Augusta Masters

Golf superstar Tiger Woods will hold a “legitimate” news conference in the Augusta National interview room this afternoon, three days before the Masters Golf Tournament 2010 kicks off on Thursday.

Woods, 34, will be trying to win his 15th major, inching one step closer to Jack Nicklaus‘ record of 18 major victories.

The 2:00 p.m. presser, to be broadcast by major television networks, comes with no restrictions. Contrary to his February press confab, the embattled golfer won’t be reading a script into a camera, and he will face questions from various reporters for the first time since the controversy erupted last fall.

In his statement two months ago, Woods admitted his guilt by saying, “I had affairs, and I cheated. What I did was not acceptable, and I am the only person to blame.” He also defended his wife, Elin Nordegren, during his prepared public apology.

The scandal prompted several sponsors to suspend or drop their relationships with the athlete, who also apologized to his business partners for his conduct.

According to reports, the green-carpeted interview room in Georgia will be filled with veteran sports reporters who have long covered the Masters.
