Willie Nelson Busted for Pot Possession
Country legend Willie Nelson was arrested in Texas on Friday after police found several ounces of marijuana on his tour bus.
Reports said Nelson’s bus was stopped for routine inspection at a checkpoint in Sierra Blanca when a police officer got a whiff of marijuana after the bus’s door was opened. A subsequent search of the bus led to the discovery of six ounces of pot, U.S. border patrol spokesman Bill Brooks said. Nelson, 77, and two others were arrested after Hudspeth County Sheriff Arvin West was informed of the situation.
A report by the El Paso Times said Nelson was later released after posting a $2,500 bail bond. Nelson and his entourage were in Texas for a show on Saturday at the Winstar Casino in Thakerville. Nelson’s spokeswoman, Elaine Schock, declined to comment about the arrest when the Associated Press sent her an e-mail.
A longtime activist, Nelson is known for his marijuana-loving ways, including his support for legalization of pot.
