Woman reunites with firefighter who rescued her in 1968

For two decades, Evangeline Anderson searched unsuccessfully for the Boston firefighter who saved her from a burning building when she was just 4-months-old. Last month, more than 40 years after the fire, she finally did.

In the neighborhood where they first met, 71-year-old Bill Carroll, strode up to Anderson, and said: “You’ve grown a lot since the last time I saw you.” The 40-year-old woman smiled, gently took his hand, and looked at him almost shyly.

NBC’s Anne Thompson shares the details of their high-profile reunion.
