A World War I French battleship sunk by a German submarine in 1917 was discovered on the floor of the Mediterranean Sea.
The Fugro Geosciences company discovered the battleship during a survey of a proposed gas pipeline route between Algeria and Sardinia. The proposed pipeline, built by the Galsi consortium, will now be re-routed away from the wreckage as the French government seeks to preserve the historical site. Pavithra George reports.
